Arena Stage, an award winning regional theater now in its 58th season, seeks an experienced First Hand. This hourly position runs January through June 2009 and is eligible for health and vacation benefits.
Responsibilities:
Assist and take notes in fittings; prepare mock-ups; supervise stitchers; basic pattern-making, cutting, and construction of theatrical costumes. Requirements: knowledge of industrial and home sewing machines and pattern sizing and making; demonstrated ability in a wide range of clothing construction methods and tailoring; knowledge of costume history; and a minimum of two years experience in the costume shop of a professional theater. Preference will be given to early applicants.
