HR and Finance Associate

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, a national center for the production, presentation, development, and study of American Theater, seeks professional and enthusiastic candidates to join the Human Resource and Finance team.

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for managing the day-to-day Human Resources function at Arena Stage while also providing general assistance to the CFO. This position handles a variety of HR related administrative duties and is the primary liaison between staff and senior management. In that role, the Associate is responsible for ensuring clear communication and prompt response to all HR related matter, supporting CFO in coordinating and implementing HR policies, processes and maintaining all relevant documentation.

Responsibilities
(include but may not be limited to)

  • Conducting employee orientations and exit interviews.
  • Administering employee Medical, Dental and Life insurance plans including enrollment, managing COBRA benefits, and assisting with annual renewals.
  • Overseeing the company 403(b) retirement plan in conjunction with the CFO.
  • Administering Worker’s Compensation benefits and serving a primary contract for submission and tracking and filing of claims with the theater and our insurer.
  • Maintain and manage all relevant HR related documentation and record keeping through both automated and manual systems.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee relations and implementation of Arena Stage’s HR policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate, oversee and implement employee contracts with all departments within the theater.
  • Assist in setting up and carrying out employee events: annual recognition event, holiday parties, the annual summer picnic, etc.
  • Serve as an advocate for employees.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in a related field and a passion for theater/the performing arts. Previous experience in HR, finance and accounting and/or the not-for-profit environment are desirable.

This position is full time. Benefits include vacation, medical and dental insurance, and 403(b) plan and life insurance/long term disability coverage upon eligibility.
