Stage Carpenter

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theatre, a national center for the production, presentation, development, and study of the American Theatre, is accepting applications for the position of Stage Carpenter.

The Stage Carpenter provides technical support for Arena Stage productions and third-party venue rentals. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining scenery, rigging, and stage equipment. Position also works with Stage Manager and Production Manager to run and maintain back-stage areas during technical rehearsals, performances, and events. When not in the theater, the Stage Carpenter provides additional scenic construction support.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in safe operation of power tools, scenic carpentry, theatrical rigging, and stage operations. Additional experience in automated rigging control, counterweight fly systems, deck automation, and hydraulics is desirable. Candidate must be comfortable working at heights and able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

This is a temporary full time position commencing immediately and ending on June 24th, 2018.
