The Molly Smith Study

Capacity:
225 standing
200 seated dinner

The Molly Smith Study houses our extensive theatrical library, featuring materials dedicated to the development and study of American theater. Tucked between the glass curtain wall and the exterior of the fully-restored, historic Fichandler Stage, the Study is perfect for seated dinners, receptions, meetings and more.

Bank of America Lower Lobby

Capacity:
125 standing
70 seated dinner

The adjacent, semi-private Bank of America Lower Lobby leads into the Molly Smith Study and is ideal for intimate networking events and cocktail receptions. It’s a fitting location for a reception prior to dining in the Study, or can be used in conjunction with the Study to increase standing capacity to 350.

The Grand Lobby

Capacity:
550 standing
280 seated dinner

Surrounded by the historic exteriors of the Fichandler Stage and Kreeger Theater, and accented by the modern architectural elements of the Kogod Cradle, the Grand Lobby is the heart of the Mead Center. The built-in bar, custom-designed carpet and stunning views make it one of the most sought after event spaces in Washington, DC. This flexible space functions as the shared lobby for our three theaters. On dates without performances, however, it’s a grand setting for an elaborate seated dinner, festive cocktail party or fundraising gala.

Catwalk CafÉ

Capacity:
450 standing
260 seated dinner

Perched atop the Kreeger Theater, the Catwalk Café is an eclectic alternative to traditional banquet and reception halls. The space features a private bar, contemporary rock garden and elegant poured concrete architectural elements.

Rooftop Terrace

Capacity:
250 standing
200 seated dinner

In suitable weather, the adjacent open-air Terrace is the most desirable location in the Mead Center. Completely covered by one of the largest cantilevered roofs in the world, the Terrace offers breathtaking views of the Southwest Waterfront and the Washington Monument, and can be combined with the Café to accommodate standing receptions for up to 600 guests.
