About the Artist
Jenny Male (she/her/hers) is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors and has served as the Fight Choreographer for such DC/Baltimore theatres as Arena Stage, Ford’s Theatre, Rep Stage, Constellation Theatre Company, Everyman Theatre, Factory 449, Washington Stage Guild, Adventure Theatre, Imagination Stage, and the Maryland Lyric Opera. Jenny is a certified Intimacy Director with Intimacy Directors & Coordinators and is Resident Fight & Intimacy Director for Rep Stage. In 2002, Jenny earned an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy with an emphasis in Movement & Fight Direction from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jenny is Associate Professor of Theatre at Howard Community College.

Single Sword and Staff Fighting
In this summer class, participants will have the opportunity to earn 10 hours towards the 30-hour certification process in Single Sword or Staff with the Society of American Fight Directors. SAFD Certified Teacher Jenny Male will teach an exciting class over Zoom that will give you the skills you need to continue your fight training when it is safe to meet in person.Participants must be at least 18 years old.Classes will run mid-May through the end of June. The likely schedule would be Mondays/Wednesday evenings but please email marketplace@arenastage.org to be connected with the instructor, Jenny Male, about best times to meet as well as for recommendations on safe training equipment for the course.Cost:
