About the Artist
Parker Esse is a multi-award-winning and story-driven director/choreographer. After performing regionally, in national tours, and as a featured performer on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning Fosse, he began collaborating exclusively on multiple regional and Broadway shows as associate director/choreographer, including Broadway's Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Award nominated Finian's Rainbow and A Tale of Two Cities, as well as five-star studded NY City Center Encores! productions. As a choreographer, Parker exploded onto the scene with the groundbreaking and re-imagined Oklahoma! (Arena Stage) as well as Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis’ A Bed and a Chair directed by John Doyle (NY City Center Encores!). Parker has directed/choreographed for numerous NYC, regional and international theatres and is an eight-time Helen Hayes Nominee for Best Choreography, winning for Arena Stage's Oklahoma!, The Pajama Gamestarring Donna McKechnie, and most recently for Anything Goes starring Corbin Bleu. Recent director and/or choreographer credits include: the highly acclaimed revival of Rags (Goodspeed); La Traviata (The Kennedy Center’s WNO); pre-Broadway Toronto engagement of Jukebox Hero featuring Foreigner's Greatest Hits (Ed Mirvish Theatre); pre-Broadway world premiere of Love And Other Fables (Theatre By The Sea); 45 Minutes From Coontown(York Theatre Co.); The Buddy Holly Story (Casa Manana); Lyrics & Lyricists Celebrates Oklahoma! at 75 (92nd St. Y); seven seasons for the Physician’s Mutual of Omaha Symphony Orchestra Christmas Celebration; and multiple pre-Broadway new works, Equity showcases, and 29-Hour Readings. College Auditions and Self-Tapes with Parker Esse
For Parents/Upcoming Graduating High School Students:
Do you want to help your high school student get a head start or coaching on their theatrical college auditions? Do you want advice and valuable feedback from fresh eyes on your student’s college audition materials? Let Parker coach your student on their audition materials, song choices, monologues, dance piece, and/or self tapes, while helping to give you both peace of mind. He will help guide you with important “behind the table” tips on the dos and don’ts of college auditioning and self-tape auditions, to shape your student’s best audition self.
Coaching sessions will focus on one of the following: Monologues (2-3 contrasting), Dance Pieces (up to two pieces), Vocal Selections (2-3 contrasting), or Self-Taped College Audition Material Feedback. For Self-Taped College Audition Material Feedback, students' audition tapes will be sent and reviewed prior to class and be discussed in depth with the student/parent; this will be an hour-long session with feedback and in-depth personal notes and tips.
For Professionals:
Are you looking for feedback, advice, or just feeling rusty and in need of a “tune-up” on your audition materials or self-tape auditions? Let Parker guide you on how to prepare clean and clear “best version of you” auditions, materials, and/or self-tape auditions!
These hour-long sessions will take place over Zoom. You will need to provide pre-recorded tracks on your side, to work with during your session. If you have questions on how to obtain a pre-recorded track, please email marketplace@arenastage.org and they will contact Parker. If you have a self-audition tape you would like Parker to review prior to the session for feedback, please provide this material directly to Parker up to four days prior to the session.Cost:
$100 for one, 60 minute session
